Yes, you can use your existing phone number in GoHighLevel now. Since April 2026 you can make outbound voice calls from HighLevel with a number you already own, without buying a HighLevel or Twilio number first. You turn it on in Labs, verify the number with a code over a phone call, and do a one-time ID check before you can call anyone but yourself.

This is a big deal if you sell to local businesses. The biggest objection I hear about anything phone related is that they don't want a new number. They've had theirs for years and their customers know it. Now they can keep it. How I sell to local businesses is in Sell AI to local businesses.

The video version

Short version

  • 01Outbound calls only. Inbound calls keep ringing on your existing phone like they always did.
  • 02It only shows up in a sub-account that doesn't have a purchased phone number. I tried it in one that did and the option wasn't there.
  • 03To call anyone other than yourself you need a one-time ID check with a government ID and a selfie, once per sub-account.
  • 04Calls cost the same as regular outbound calls in HighLevel (rates in Usage fees).

How to set it up

  1. 01

Use a sub-account with no purchased number

The option only appears when the sub-account doesn't have a HighLevel number. Either use a fresh sub-account or remove the number from the one you're in.

  2. 02

    Turn on the Labs feature

In my video I went to Settings > Labs, searched "outbound" and toggled on Outbound calling without buying a phone number. HighLevel's changelog says the agency admin can also do it from Agency settings > Labs > Activate Feature, then pick the sub-accounts.

  3. 03

    Open the dialer

Click the phone icon in the top right. Instead of only offering to buy a number, it now shows Use your existing phone number.

  4. 04

    Verify your number

Enter the number you want as your caller ID and click Call me to verify. You get a call with a 6-digit code. Enter it and the caller ID is verified.

  5. 05

    Test by calling yourself

Your own number works right away, so call yourself from HighLevel to check it rings.

  6. 06

    Do the one-time ID check

After your first call HighLevel asks for a government ID and a selfie. That's what lets you call your contacts. It's there to stop spam, and you only do it once per sub-account.

Where do you manage the number after it's set up?

In the sub-account go to Settings > Phone System > Phone Numbers > Verified Caller ID. The 3 dot menu there is also where you turn on call recording.

Can you text from your existing number too?

Yes, with a different Labs feature. On Oct 30, 2026 HighLevel released Hosted Numbers, which hosts a number you already own for SMS inside HighLevel. Your voice service stays with your current carrier the whole time, so nothing changes for people calling the business.

To set it up, an agency owner or admin turns on Hosted Numbers in Labs, then goes to Settings > Phone System > Manage Numbers > Add Number > Host a Number. HighLevel checks the number is eligible, verifies you own it with an automated call, asks for the service address and sends an authorization letter to e-sign. You can track the request from Hosted Numbers or Phone Numbers.

Hosted isn't the same as ready to text. The number also needs identity verification where required, A2P registration for the sub-account and messaging sender setup. If the sub-account already has an approved A2P registration, HighLevel reuses it. That part is in A2P 10DLC registration.

Limits in this first Labs release: US local numbers only (toll free needs toll-free verification), SMS only, one number per request, and only an agency owner or admin can start it. Sub-account users can see the request but can't start one.

What doesn't it do?

It's outbound voice calls. Inbound calls still go to your phone the normal way, outside HighLevel. Texting from your own number is a separate feature, Hosted Numbers, covered below.

When I recorded the video in April, HighLevel said inbound was coming at some point and the changelog said mobile app support was coming soon. Check the changelog for the current status before you promise either to a client.

And if you want a dedicated HighLevel number later, you can still buy one anytime.

FAQ

Can I text from my existing number in GoHighLevel?

Yes, since Oct 30, 2026, with Hosted Numbers in Labs. It hosts an eligible US local number for SMS in HighLevel while your calls stay with your current carrier. An agency owner or admin starts it under Settings > Phone System > Manage Numbers > Add Number > Host a Number, and the number needs A2P registration before it can send.

Can I use my own phone number in GoHighLevel?

Yes, for outbound voice calls. Turn on the Labs feature, verify the number with a 6-digit code over a call, and complete a one-time ID check to call contacts. It only works in a sub-account without a purchased number.

Do I need Twilio or a LeadConnector number?

Not for outbound calls with this feature. You call from the number you already own.

Why don't I see the option to use my existing number?

Usually because the sub-account already has a purchased phone number, or the Labs feature isn't turned on for that sub-account.

Does it cost extra?

HighLevel says calls cost the same as regular outbound calling.
