How to get A2P 10DLC approved in GoHighLevel (2026 step by step)

To get A2P 10DLC approved in GoHighLevel, open Settings > Phone System > Trust Center in the sub-account, register the brand (Standard if the business has an EIN, Sole Proprietor if it has no tax ID), then register a campaign whose description, sample texts and opt-in form match the business's live website, privacy policy and terms. Pay the one-time fee ($22.50 for Sole Proprietor or Low Volume Standard, $64 for High Volume as of Oct 31, 2026), pass HighLevel's AI compliance review, submit, and link the phone number once the campaign is approved.
A2P is the number one thing people get stuck on in HighLevel, and it's the most discussed feature on the HighLevel subreddit this year by a mile. Most of the pain comes from three mistakes: the wrong brand type, an opt-in form that doesn't match the campaign, and a website missing its privacy policy or terms. Below is the full process as it works on Oct 31, 2026, including the Agency Trust Center HighLevel launched on Oct 28 for managing every client's registration from one screen.
Short version
- 01Every US business texting from a local 10-digit number needs an approved brand AND an approved campaign, and the number has to be linked to that campaign. Otherwise texts fail with error 30034.
- 02Has an EIN (any LLC or corporation)? Standard brand. No tax ID and one employee? Sole Proprietor, which gets one number and 3,000 texts a day. An LLC can't register as Sole Prop, and resubmitting won't fix that.
- 03Register the client's business, not your agency. Their legal name, their EIN, their website, their contact person.
- 04Use HighLevel's Chat Widget setup if you can. It writes the opt-in wording for you and, since Aug 2026, it's the way around needing your own privacy policy and terms URLs.
- 05Fees start the moment you submit, approved or not. Resubmitting a rejected campaign is free since early 2026.
How to register A2P 10DLC in GoHighLevel, step by step
- 01
Collect the client's business details first
Exact legal business name and EIN from the IRS CP-575 or 147C letter (not a DUNS number), registered street address (no P.O. box), business type and industry, and an authorized contact with a reachable mobile number, an email they check and their job title. Do this before you open the form, because the name has to match IRS records letter for letter.
- 02
Get the website ready
A live, public site that shows the business name and contact details, with a Privacy Policy page and a Terms & Conditions page linked in the footer. If you're using your own form for opt-in, it needs the consent checkboxes described below. If you're using HighLevel's Chat Widget, you install it in the next steps.
- 03
Open the Trust Center and start registration
In the client's sub-account go to Settings > Phone System > Trust Center and click Start Registration in the A2P Messaging (SMS) card. Agencies on the $497 plan can also start it from the Agency Trust Center and pick the sub-account (more on that below).
- 04
Answer the tax ID question and fill in the brand
Pick the country where the business is registered and say whether it has a tax ID. That answer decides the brand type. For a Standard brand you can upload the CP-575 and HighLevel fills in the legal name, EIN and address from it, which is the easiest way to avoid a name mismatch.
- 05
Add the contact person and verify
Add the authorized representative. HighLevel may then ask for a Persona ID check (usually once per sub-account) or an email code sent to the address you entered, so have the client on standby if it's their email. You get 3 tries at the code and 2 resends.
- 06
Pick the messaging volume
With an EIN, choose Low Volume Standard (up to 6,000 segments a day) or High Volume Standard (up to 600,000). Most local businesses fit Low Volume. Without a tax ID the only option is single-number registration.
- 07
Set up the campaign with the Chat Widget or manually
Chat Widget Setup opens by default. Choose Marketing, Informational or Mixed, enter the website, copy the widget code into the site's body or footer, and HighLevel fills in the description, sample messages and opt-in text. The widget must be the only SMS opt-in form on that page. If the business collects consent another way (its own website form, a Facebook lead form, paper, QR code, verbal), click Switch to manual setup and fill in every field yourself, including the Privacy Policy and Terms URLs.
- 08
Run the AI compliance review and submit
Click Review Application. HighLevel scans the opt-in page, privacy policy and terms and lists what's missing. Fix everything it flags, click Review Again, then submit for carrier review. Passing the scan helps a lot, but the carriers still make the final call.
- 09
Link the number after approval
Go to Settings > Phone System > Phone Numbers and check for the green A2P Verified tag. No tag means the number isn't on the campaign yet, so link it from the Trust Center. A2P In Progress usually clears within 24 hours. Repeat this for every new number you add.
What is A2P 10DLC and who needs it?
A2P means application to person: texts sent from software like HighLevel to a real person's phone. 10DLC is a standard 10-digit local number. US carriers require every business texting US recipients from a local number to register who they are (the brand) and what they send and how people opted in (the campaign) with The Campaign Registry. HighLevel is just the form. The carriers approve or reject.
Toll-free numbers skip A2P and go through toll-free verification instead. Canadian numbers texting the US need A2P, and Canadian numbers bought on or after March 26, 2025 need A2P or Persona verification even for Canada-only texting.
If you only want to call from a client's existing number, that's a different setup and doesn't need A2P. The steps are in Use your own phone number.
Sole Proprietor vs EIN: which brand type to pick
This is the decision that causes the most rejections. If the business has an EIN, tax ID or business number, it's a Standard brand, full stop. That includes every LLC and corporation, even a one-person LLC. Sole Proprietor is only for people with no tax ID and one employee.
Pick wrong and you're stuck. HighLevel's rejection guide says an LLC, Inc. or Co. registered as Sole Prop will keep getting rejected and resubmitting won't fix it. You register the brand again as Standard, then submit a campaign that fits the new brand. An approved brand also can't be edited, so changing details later means a ticket to HighLevel Support.
| Sole Proprietor | Standard (EIN) | |
|---|---|---|
| Who it's for | No EIN or tax ID, 1 employee | Any business with an EIN, tax ID or business number |
| Phone numbers | 1 per campaign | Multiple |
| Daily limit | 3,000 segments | 6,000 (Low Volume) or 600,000 (High Volume) |
| Must be a public address like Gmail (not Google Workspace) | Business domain recommended, Gmail accepted but slower | |
| Name | Your name or unregistered business name, no LLC or Inc. | Legal name exactly as on the IRS letter |
| Verification phone | US or Canada mobile, no VoIP or LeadConnector numbers | Reachable contact number |

Whose EIN do you use for a client's sub-account?
The client's. The brand is the business responsible for the messages, and carriers check that the name, EIN, website, opt-in form and policy pages all point to the same business. Your agency's EIN with a client's website is a mismatch.
HighLevel also caps reuse: the same EIN can back up to 10 brands (for DBAs), and the same contact email or phone shouldn't be used on more than five brands. Each business should have its own contact person, so put the client's owner or manager as the authorized rep, not yourself.
If the client trades under a different name than its legal one, add "We are doing DBA as [Business Name]" to the campaign description, and make sure the website header or footer, the policies and the checkbox wording all show that DBA.
What the website and opt-in form need
HighLevel's own checklist for 2026: two separate consent checkboxes, one for marketing texts and one for non-marketing texts, neither ticked by default, and both optional even when the phone field is required. The wording has to name the business and the type of messages from the campaign description, say message frequency varies, that message and data rates may apply, and how to text HELP and STOP.
Every form needs Privacy Policy and Terms links in its footer. The privacy policy can never mention selling or sharing leads and must include HighLevel's non-sharing clause about mobile information. The terms need the business identity, STOP and HELP instructions, a carrier liability line, message frequency and a link back to the privacy policy. HighLevel has sample pages you can load straight into the sub-account.
Since Aug 7, 2026, manual (self-serve) campaigns can't be submitted without a Privacy Policy URL and a Terms URL. If the client has neither, the Chat Widget flow handles them for you.
This is how HighLevel and the carriers describe the rules. It isn't legal advice, so have the client's lawyer look at the policy pages before they go live.
What if the client has no website or no domain email?
No website is a blocker. Every campaign needs a live, public site that shows the business and matches the brand. The fix is to build one in the client's sub-account with HighLevel's website builder, add the sample privacy and terms pages, and put the Chat Widget on it. A subdomain works as long as it's clearly the same brand and it's obvious how people find the page.
No domain email is fine for Sole Proprietor (it actually requires a Gmail-style address). For a Standard brand a Gmail address is accepted but can slow approval. HighLevel's rejection guide says a sole trader without their own domain should use the same free email that shows publicly on their website.
What about a foreign-owned US LLC or a business outside the US?
A US LLC has an EIN, so it registers as a Standard brand with the EIN and legal name from its IRS letter, wherever the owner lives. The thing to watch is Sole Proprietor's phone check, which needs a US or Canada mobile number.
A business registered outside the US uses its own country's number: BN-9 for Canada, VAT number in Europe, ABN in Australia, NZBN in New Zealand. HighLevel says these brands may need extra vetting and can't register as Low Volume Standard.
How much does A2P registration cost in GoHighLevel?
One bundled fee when you register the brand and first campaign, then a monthly fee per campaign. HighLevel says these are pass-through charges from The Campaign Registry, Twilio and the carriers with no HighLevel markup. One catch: if you have rebilling turned on, HighLevel adds 5% at the sub-account on pass-through charges, A2P fees included, which is why its LC Phone pricing page shows $2.10 and $10.50 a month. Every other usage rate is on Usage fees.
The other catch: submitting a campaign starts both the one-time fee and the monthly fee whether it's approved or not. Delete a campaign you won't use to stop the monthly charge. Resubmitting a rejected campaign is free since early 2026 (HighLevel's changelog announced it Jan 27, its pricing guide says from Feb 1), but changing the use case or opt-in message needs a new campaign at the normal price.
| Fee | Price | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Sole Proprietor registration | $22.50 one time | Brand, campaign vetting and $3 Fast Track |
| Low Volume Standard registration | $22.50 one time | Brand, campaign vetting and $3 Fast Track |
| High Volume Standard registration | $64.00 one time | Includes secondary vetting if the first try is rejected |
| Extra campaign on the same brand | $15.00 | Campaign vetting fee |
| Resubmitting a rejected campaign | Free | Disallowed-content rejections can still be charged |
| Monthly: Sole Proprietor campaign | $2.00/month | $2.10 with rebilling on |
| Monthly: Standard campaign | $10.00/month | $10.50 with rebilling on |
| Monthly: Low Volume Mixed campaign | $1.50/month | Max 2,000 segments a day to T-Mobile |
| Local phone number | $1.15/month | Texts are $0.00747 per segment in the US plus carrier fees |
From HighLevel's A2P 10DLC fees article (updated Sep 24, 2026) and LC Phone pricing guide (updated Oct 12, 2026), both checked live Oct 31, 2026. Prices can change, so check the Trust Center before you submit.
How long does A2P approval take?
HighLevel doesn't promise a fixed time, but its own docs give these ranges. Sole Proprietor brands are often reviewed faster than Standard ones.
Brand-new EINs are the big trap. The current brand guide says EINs issued in the last 15 days may be rejected, and an older HighLevel best-practices page says to wait 30 to 90 days or pay $10 to appeal. If the client just formed the LLC, expect a wait.
| Stage | Typical time |
|---|---|
| Campaign review with Fast Track | Within 3 business days |
| Standard brand review | Several business days |
| Trust Score secondary vetting (when it kicks in) | Up to 7 business days |
| Linking a number (A2P In Progress) | Usually within 24 hours |
| Carriers picking up the approval | Can take several business days |

The Agency Trust Center (new Oct 28, 2026)
Before October 2026 you had to open every sub-account to check its A2P status. HighLevel launched the Agency Trust Center on Oct 28, 2026: one screen in agency view that shows every sub-account's brand and campaign, why each rejection happened, and lets you fix and resubmit or start a new registration for any sub-account.
It's only on the $497 Founder plan, and only Agency Owners and Agency Admins can see it. I'm on the $497 plan, which is the one you need for this. On Starter or Unlimited you keep registering inside each sub-account, which works the same as before. The changelog says to turn it on in Labs in agency view first, then go to Settings > Phone Integration > Trust Center (A2P).
The Overview tab counts sub-accounts as Fully Approved (brand and campaign both approved), In Review or Rejected, lists the most common brand and campaign rejection reasons, and compares approval rates for the Chat Widget vs self-serve registrations across your clients. The Brands tab shows attempts left for each brand. There's no CSV export yet.
If you manage a lot of clients, that Chat Widget vs self-serve comparison is the most useful number on the page. It tells you which method is actually getting your clients approved.
How to handle A2P for a client's sub-account
Ask for everything up front in onboarding: the IRS letter, the registered address, who the contact person is, and the website login. Most delays come from waiting on the client mid-form, especially the email code and the Persona ID check, which go to them.
Fix the website before you submit. If it has no privacy policy, terms or proper checkboxes, add HighLevel's sample pages and the Chat Widget first. Submitting a half-ready site costs the client the fee and buys you a rejection.
Then register from the client's sub-account (or the Agency Trust Center on the $497 plan), link the number, and don't switch on any texting automations (like Missed call text back) until the number shows A2P Verified. Texts from an unlinked number fail with error 30034, and the client thinks your automation is broken.
What if the campaign gets rejected?
Open the Trust Center, find the campaign and click View required fixes next to every rejection reason. Fix all of them, check the whole submission again (description, use case, sample messages, website, policies, business name), then resubmit. Don't create a second campaign while one is still Pending.
The most common reasons are a description that doesn't match the use case, opt-in consent HighLevel couldn't verify, and a website the reviewer couldn't load. A separate guide that maps each rejection message to its exact fix is coming next on this hub. Until then, HighLevel's A2P Campaign Rejections, Required Fixes & Vetting Errors article lists every code.

FAQ
Can I send texts from GoHighLevel before A2P is approved?
Not reliably to US numbers from a local number. A number that isn't linked to an approved campaign fails with error 30034. A toll-free number with toll-free verification is the main alternative.
Do I need an EIN for A2P 10DLC?
No. Without an EIN or tax ID you can register as a Sole Proprietor, which gets one number and 3,000 segments a day. If the business has an EIN, it has to register as a Standard brand.
Can my one-person LLC register as a Sole Proprietor?
No. Any LLC, Inc. or Co. has to register as a Standard brand with its EIN. HighLevel says carriers will keep rejecting a Sole Prop brand for an LLC until the brand type changes.
How much does A2P registration cost?
As of Oct 31, 2026: $22.50 one time for Sole Proprietor or Low Volume Standard, $64 for High Volume Standard, then $2 a month for a Sole Prop campaign or $10 a month for a Standard campaign. Extra campaigns are $15. Resubmissions are free.
How long does A2P approval take in GoHighLevel?
Fast Track is included and aims for campaign review within 3 business days. Standard brands can take several business days, extra vetting up to 7, and linking a number usually takes under 24 hours.
Can an agency register A2P for its clients?
Yes, from each client's sub-account Trust Center, or from the Agency Trust Center if you're on the $497 plan. Use the client's legal business details and contact person, not your agency's.
Where is the Trust Center in GoHighLevel?
In a sub-account: Settings > Phone System > Trust Center. In agency view on the $497 plan: Settings > Phone Integration > Trust Center (A2P), after turning it on in Labs.
